Looking East from Magnolia Blvd., probably from the roof of the Breakers Hotel.. Notice on the left side of Broadway a large tent, the circus must have been in town !! This circa 1920's.

The President Hotel, circa 1930. SW corner of Laurelton and the Boardwalk. Destroyed by fire 8/31/65.

The Hotel Murida, later Scharf's Royale or the Royale Hotel. This image is a little later than I normally post on this page (probably in the late 40's or 50's looking at the "Woody" parked in front !) but it was the only one I had, and this building was probably constructed in the 30's so it qualifies as old ! . It stood at 75 East Broadway and was destroyed by fire and torn down in 1981.

The Trouville Hotel and Resturant, stood until the 1960's at the SW corner of Long Beach Blvd and the boardwalk. The architecture emulated William Reynolds' dream of a French Riviera on the Atlantic.

A view of the beach in front of the Hotel Cecil (this between Magnolia and National Blvds) . The new National Bathing Pavillon is the first large building to the right and the Hotel Nassau on the extreme right. This probably in the late 20's.

The beach was always the attraction in Long Beach. And it still is!

This image is from the Long Beach Historical Society's 75th Anniversary Photo Album and provided by the courtesy of Tom Mulligan. While it is dated 1920, I believe it may be a couple of years later, as the West End Theater wasn't purchasd from Camp Upton in Yaphank until 1921.

On the beach in 1910. Wonder what the crowd is gathered for on the left ??? And the surf looks pretty rough on this day too !! Probably around National or Magnolia Blvd.

Island Park, circa 1930's. Taken standing in the road with the Long Island Rail Road crossing immediately behind the photographer. The paved path in front of the lunchonette led to Quebec Rd.

Sherman Pharmacy, The Long Beach Times, the Capitol Resturant and other businesses in the Minrose Building. Circa 1930's

Castles by the Sea dance hall, where famous ballroom dancers Irene and Vernon Castle performed.

The Lafayette Hotel, which stood at the corner of Jackson (now Edwards) and Park.

Broadway at National Blvd, circa 1912. It was tough to find a parking space back then too !! The corner of the Hotel Nassau is visible on the right.

The caption reads "Along the Lagoon, Long Beach North, Island Park, Long Island NY" Identified as the canal just over the LB Bridge going into Island Park on the right. Joseph's Hamburgers stood at the head of the canal for many years. This probably in the 30's .

A nice photo of the Castles by the Sea with the Hotel Nassau in the background to the left.. circa 1916

While not a photo, this drawing shows the various phases of the Castles Theatre complex. The original building, seen in the phot to the left, is actually behind in this drawing. The building highlighted on the left as the Mirimar was originally the Castles Baths.. it is shown on another page...

A beautiful and rare image of the Long Beach Hotel. This postcard was postmarked on August 13, 1907 (see left image), but the hotel burned to the ground on July 29, 1907 !!

This is the postmark from the card at right. It was dated August 13, 1907 !! This person must have witnessed, or possibly been staying in, the hotel when it burned down. The postcard probably sat in the post office, or their pocket, for some time until it was mailed.
